Stocks in Greater China were mixed on Monday.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index gained 1.8% to 16511.69, and China's Shanghai Composite Index slipped 0.7% to 3044.60. The Taiwan Taiex index slipped 0.6% to 19411.22.
Among Hang Seng constituents, Li Auto Inc. posted the largest decline, dropping 8.3% to HK$97.45, followed by shares of Zijin Mining Group Co. Ltd., which fell 5.0% to HK$16.86. Shares of China Shenhua Energy Co. Ltd. fell 3.7% to HK$31.65.
Sino Biopharmaceutical Ltd. was the biggest gainer among companies on the Hang Seng, surging 8.5% to HK$2.54, and Sinopharm Group Co. Ltd. surged 5.6% to HK$21.00. Meituan rounded out the top three movers on Monday, as shares surged 5.6% to HK$100.60.
Among large mainland China stocks, Traffic Control Technology Co. Ltd. A posted the largest decline, dropping 15% to CNY18.19, followed by shares of SiChuan HeBang Biotechnology Co. Ltd. A, which dropped 10% to CNY2.13. Shares of Suzhou Institute of Building Science Group Co. Ltd. A dropped 10% to CNY3.65.
Zhuhai Comleader Information Science & Technology Co. Ltd. A was the biggest gainer during the session, surging 20% to CNY21.78, and Southchip Semiconductor Technology (Shanghai) Co. Ltd. A surged 13% to CNY32.65. Shenzhen Consys Science & Technology Co. Ltd. A rounded out the top three movers on Monday, as shares surged 12% to CNY28.12.
In Taiwan, Fositek Corp. posted the biggest decline among large companies, dropping 10% to NT$675.00, followed by shares of Asia Vital Components Co. Ltd., which dropped 10% to NT$567.00. Shares of Forest Water Environmental Engineering Co. Ltd. dropped 10% to NT$44.60.
Tainan Spinning Co. Ltd. was the biggest gainer among large Taiwan companies during the session, surging 10% to NT$17.10, and King's Town Construction Co. Ltd. surged 9.9% to NT$50.30. Sun Yad Construction Co. Ltd. rounded out the top three movers, as shares surged 9.7% to NT$19.15.
On the currency front, the onshore yuan weakened 0.1% against the U.S. dollar to CNY7.24 while the New Taiwan dollar weakened 0.3% against the U.S. dollar at NT$32.65.
