PENN Entertainment on Monday named Disney executive Aaron LaBerge as its chief technology officer, effective July 1.

The appointment confirms a prior report from The Wall Street Journal that LaBerge was set to leave his post as president and chief technology officer for Disney Entertainment and ESPN.

LaBerge has spent more than 20 years at Disney, PENN said. As CTO, he oversaw several major projects at the entertainment giant, including ESPN's streaming efforts and Hulu's integration with Disney+.

LaBerge declined to comment to WSJ's prior report.

PENN last year signed a deal to use Disney's ESPN brand for its online sportsbook.
