Rainy Weather In The Southeast Spoils the Pool Party -- Market Talk

Dow Jones04-26

1445 ET - Wet weather in much of the country is causing rain delays for a rebound in pool demand. Pool Corp. CEO Peter Arvan says on a call with analysts that sales in Florida, the company's largest market in the winter quarter, were down 9% in 1Q. Sales declined by the same amount in Arizona and Texas, while California performed better by comparison. Arvan says weather recovered in California compared to heavy rains a year ago, which showed up in results. On the other hand, above-average rain in theSoutheast meant buyers pulled back on their pool purchases. Shares are down 1.8% to $370.69. (ben.glickman@wsj.com; @benglickman)
