1724 ET - Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai's compensation plunged last year, but his personal security costs were up substantially. Pichai earned $8.8 million in 2023, $6.8 million of which was for personal security. That total comp is down from $226 million in 2022, most of which was in the form of stock awards. Security costs now account for about 77% of Pichai's compensation from the tech giant, and they were up about 15% year-on-year. (ben.glickman@wsj.com; @benglickman)
