G7 discussing potential restrictions on Russian LNG, Italy says

TURIN, April 29 (Reuters) - Energy ministers for the Group of Seven (G7) major democracies are pondering potential restrictions to European imports of Russian liquefied natural gas $(LNG)$, the Italian presidency of the G7 said on Monday.

"The issue is on the technical and political agenda (of the G7). We are working on it, I cannot go any further... if there is a final decision I will communicate it," Italian Energy Minister Gilberto Pichetto Fratin told reporters in Turin.

The European Commission could for the first time propose LNG restrictions in its next sanctions package against Russia, including a ban on trans-shipments in the EU and measures against three Russian LNG projects, three EU sources have said.
