Its latest results offer further insight into the companies that help bring iPhones and iPads to the market. Analysts at KeyBanc Capital Markets believe Apple's figures and guidance are \"neutral\" for the companies in its supply chain, which include Broadcom (NASDAQ:AVGO), Qualcomm (NASDAQ:QCOM), Skyworks Solutions (NASDAQ:SWKS), Qorvo (QRVO) and Arm (ARM). \"AAPL's F2Q24 iPhone revenue of $46.0B (-11% y/y) was slightly above [KeyBanc's] estimate of $45.8B (-11% y/y) and the consensus estimate of $45.9B (-11% y/y), with management citing iPhone growth y/y in mainland China, despite a tough comparison, much better than feared given sell-through was down ~20% y/y,\" the analysts said. \"We believe this also reflects robust emerging market growth, offset by weaker demand in mature markets in [the rest of the world].\" Qualcomm, Skyworks and Qorvo recently reported their own quarterly results. Oppenheimer analysts said Apple's product gross margin of 36.6% was down 280 basis points sequentially amid \"rising\" component costs, particularly in memory.  \"We believe offsetting this rising cost is one motivating factor in an iPhone 16 socket transition,\" the analysts said, adding they believe Skyworks likely lost a \"small\" RF socket (worth roughly $100M per year) to Qualcomm, which may bundle its modem and RF solutions together.  The iPhone 16, widely expected to be unveiled in September, could come with Apple's A18 chip (3 nanometer size), along with Qualcomm's X75 Snapdragon modem and WiFi7 chipset, and USB-C offerings from Broadcom and others. Other Apple suppliers include Cirrus Logic (CRUS), NXP Semiconductors (NXPI) and Texas Instruments (TXN). Financial results, guidance For the period ending March 30, Apple earned $1.53 per share as revenue declined 4.3% year-over-year to $90.75B, including $45.96B from the iPhone. Analysts had expected the company to earn $1.50 per share on $90.33B. Overall product revenue came in at $66.89B, broadly in-line with expectations. Seeing weakness during the period were the company's iPad and Wearables businesses, as both groups declined year-over-year by 17% and 9.6% to $5.56B and $7.91B, respectively. Analysts had expected $5.91B and $8.29B, respectively. Apple's Mac business generated $7.45B in revenue, up 3.99% year-over-year, topping analyst estimates of $6.79B. Also topping analyst's forecasts was Apple's Services business, which rose 14% from the year-ago period and accounted for $23.87B in revenue during the period, above the $23.28B forecasted.
