First-quarter earnings season continues this week, with results from Walt Disney, Uber Technologies, Palantir Technologies, and more than 50 other S&P 500 companies. It will be a quieter stretch on the economic calendar, after a busy week with a Federal Reserve decision and the latest jobs data.
Monday’s earnings highlights will be BioNTech, Palantir, and Tyson Foods. BP, Ferrari, NRG Energy, Occidental Petroleum, Disney, and Wynn Resorts release results on Tuesday, followed by Airbnb, Anheuser-Busch InBev, and Uber on Wednesday. Roblox and Warner Bros. Discovery report on Thursday, and Honda Motor closes the week on Friday.
Economic data to watch will include the Fed’s consumer credit data for March on Tuesday and the University of Michigan’s Consumer Sentiment index for May on Friday.
The Bank of England will announce a monetary policy decision on Thursday. As with the Fed last week, the central bank is widely expected to keep its target interest rate unchanged.

BioNTech, Coty, Fidelity National Information Services, Microchip Technology, Palantir, Realty Income, Simon Property Group, Tyson Foods, Vertex Pharmaceuticals, and Williams Cos. report quarterly results.
Tuesday 5/7
Arista Networks, BP, Datadog, Duke Energy, Electronic Arts, Ferrari, GlobalFoundries, Kenvue, MarketAxess Holdings, Match Group, McKesson, NRG Energy, Occidental, Rockwell Automation, Sempra, Suncor Energy, Transdigm Group, UBS Group, Disney, and Wynn Resorts release earnings.
The Fed releases consumer credit data for March. In February total outstanding debt rose at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 3.4% to a record $5.05 trillion.
Wednesday 5/8
Airbnb, Anheuser-Busch InBev, Arm Holdings, Atmos Energy, Celanese, Emerson Electric, Energy Transfer, Fox, Shopify, Toyota Motor, Trade Desk, Uber, and Vistra announce quarterly results.
Thursday 5/9
Brookfield, Constellation Energy, Roblox, Tapestry, and Warner Bros. Discover hold conference calls to discuss quarterly results.
The Bank of England announces its monetary policy decision. The central bank is widely expected to keep its bank rate unchanged at a 16-year high of 5.25%. As with its counterpart the European Central Bank, traders are eyeing the June meetings as the first likely cut to interest rates.

Honda Motor releases fiscal 2024 earnings.
The University of Michigan releases its Consumer Sentiment index for May. Consensus estimate is for a 77 reading, roughly even with April. The index has risen sharply in the past six months but is still well below historical levels. Consumers’ expectations of the year ahead inflation was 3.2% in April and have edged up recently, but are down more than two percentage points from two years prior.
