2358 GMT - ANZ's may see earnings challenges coming from home lending competition, higher wholesale funding and deposit costs persisting into 2H FY 2024, says Moody's Ratings in a note. Still, it thinks that balance sheet settings remain strong with low levels of problem loans, high loss provisions and very strong capitalization. For ANZ's 1H FY 2024 results, Moody's Ratings views them to be "credit neutral," with the bank's cash earnings falling by only 1% compared with that in the prior period, largely due to a 27% increase in Markets income, with net interest income declining by 1%.(alice.uribe@wsj.com)
