NextNav Taps Sanyogita Shamsunder as First Chief Operating Officer

NextNav named former Google executive Sanyogita Shamsunder to its newly created position of chief operating officer.

She will be overseeing business development, strategy, product and software, program and operations, and IT, NextNav said Tuesday.

Shamsunder, who was recently the head of Edge Network Infrastructure at Google, will join NextNav on Thursday. She previously worked at Verizon Communications.

Chief Executive Mariam Sorond said Shamsunder's telecom expertise will further advance NextNav's efforts to provide a 3D terrestrial positioning, navigation, and timing solution as a complement and backup to GPS, while also unleashing spectrum for 5G broadband.
