It's a light week for economic data, and earnings take center stage.

Walt Disney updated investors before Tuesday's open. Lyft and Reddit are due after the close.

Meanwhile, Palantir's stock is tumbling after the company reported its results Monday.

Globally, banks and oil companies are in focus. Switzerland's UBS smashed Wall Street profit expectations, while Saudi Arabia's Aramco and the U.K.'s BP both said earnings declined.

Stock indexes edged up. The S&P 500, Nasdaq Composite and Dow industrials were modestly higher, building on recent gains.

Treasury yields slipped. The 10-year yield ticked lower to 4.433%, putting it on course to decline for a fifth straight session.

Disney shares fell after the media company reported a quarterly loss and a disappointing earnings outlook.

Tesla's stock declined. A federal regulator asked the EV-maker for more information regarding its Autopilot system tied to a recall.

The yen weakened against the dollar. Japan's top currency official reiterated that Tokyo could intervene if there is too much volatility.

Oil prices edged lower as Israel sent tanks into Gaza.
