BUZZ-Energy sector declines as crude prices drop more than 1%

** S&P 500 energy sector down 0.7%, tracking lower crude prices

** Brent crude slips 1.13% to $82.92/bbl and U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude declines 1.2% to $78.3/bbl, as investors grapple with conflicting demand signals out of top two crude oil consumers China and the U.S

** APA Corp , Valero Energy , Marathon Petroleum and EQT Corp among top pct decliners on energy index, down 1.6% to 3%

** Oil majors Exxon Mobil and Chevron decline 0.6% and 0.2%, respectively

** Both oil benchmarks were roughly flat on the week
