On the other hand, Alibaba confirmed channel check feedback the analysts heard that pro-consumer policy changes had caused returns to rise. This has the effect of boosting headline GMV, and partly explains the implied drop in take rate. However, the question is why Alibaba chose to emphasize GMV growth so heavily, according to Bernstein. The analysts added that a more cynical view would be that near-term visibility in core e-commerce remained mixed with June quarter offering a robust comp for CMR, and the integrated marketing monetization ramp now slated for the second half of FY3/25 (in contrast with PDD (PDD) where take rates immediately jumped after the launch of similar marketing to. Double-digit year-over-year growth on fourth quarter GMV shows early signs of a market share stabilization. According to Benchmark, vital drivers for the next leg of the stock, are — sustainability of positive market share dynamics; ecommerce monetization improvement driven by new ad product launch, slated in fiscal second half of 2025, to close the gap of CMR and GMV; and re-accelerated cloud growth bolstered by AI cloud (fiscal second half of 2025).
