Aflac said it is acquiring a 40% stake in direct lender Tree Line Capital Partners.

The insurance giant said Tree Line's disciplined approach to credit underwriting aligns with its core investment principles.

Aflac's news comes a day after The Wall Street Journal reported that it was buying a 40% interest in the San Francisco-based lower middle-market direct lender.
