UPDATE 1-Charles Schwab says CFO Peter Crawford is retiring

May 16 (Reuters) -

U.S. brokerage firm Charles Schwab said on Thursday its Chief Financial Officer Peter Crawford would retire after a transition period.

Mike Verdeschi, formerly a treasurer at Citigroup , will join Schwab next week as deputy CFO and will succeed Crawford after the transition period.
