Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt and his wife, Wendy Schmidt, have found a buyer for their longtime Silicon Valley home just two weeks after listing it for $24.5 million.
Known as the Walsh Estate, the roughly 3.3-acre property in Atherton, Calif., was listed in late April, according to Zillow, and is now in contract. The contract price is unknown.
The Schmidts couldn't immediately be reached for comment.
Known as an enclave for Silicon Valley elite, Atherton has one of the richest ZIP Codes in the U.S. Earlier this year, tech investor Marc Andreessen and his wife, Laura Arrillaga-Andreessen, listed an Atherton property for $33.375 million.
The Schmidts spent just over $8 million assembling their property over the years, starting in 1990, property records show. The compound has several structures, including a roughly 5,300-square-foot main house originally built in 1969, according to the listing. The house has five bedrooms, herringbone wood floors and multiple fireplaces.
The grounds contain a separate guesthouse, a three-car garage, landscaped gardens and a greenhouse, according to the listing. Listing agent Katharine Carroll of Compass declined to comment.
Eric Schmidt was CEO of Google from 2001 to 2011. He and his wife co-founded Schmidt Futures, which funds science and technology research, and he is chair of the Special Competitive Studies Project, a nonprofit focused on AI and other technology in the U.S.
The Schmidts also have homes in Miami, Montecito, Calif., and Nantucket, Mass.
