Autodesk Buys AI Animation Studio Wonder Dynamics

Autodesk has bought Wonder Dynamics, a cloud-based animation and visual effects studio that uses artificial intelligence, for an undisclosed amount.

Wonder Dynamics is the maker of Wonder Studio, which helps artists animate, light and compose three-dimensional animated characters within live-action scenes. The tools help make the visual effects process more accessible and affordable by developing AI and machine-learning tools that let filmmakers produce the visual effects and computer-generated imagery elements faster and at a significantly lower price point.

Autodesk, a San Francisco-based maker of design software, said that Wonder Studio is highly compatible with other popular three-dimensional design tools, including Autodesk Maya.
