Dow Jones05-21

1428 ET - Wendy's is joining its rivals in a race to give customers cheaper deals. Fast-food chains are leaning into ultra-cheap combos to win back customers after many pulled back on eating out because of high inflation. Wendy's says that it will offer a $3 breakfast deal which includes a side of potatoes and a breakfast sandwich on an English muffin. McDonald's last week announced a $5 meal bundle available for a limited time this summer, while Jack in the Box recently said it would introduce $4 deal for late-night packaged meals. Wendy's shares slip 1.9%. (ben.glickman@wsj.com; @benglickman)
