Canada Labor Minister Intervention Pushes Out Potential Teamsters Strike -- Market Talk

Dow Jones05-21

1107 ET - Canadian supply chain will likely be safe from labor action as a regulator investigates the effects of a potential strike. CIBC's Kevin Chiang notes that the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference were in a position to strike on May 22 but Canada's labour minister asked the Canada Industrial Relations Board to look into the impacts of a potential rail strike on the health and safety of the public and Canadian law forbid striking until the board issues a decision. Because of this "a potential labour disruption that was threatening Canada's supply chain has been pushed out." (adriano.marchese@wsj.com)
