Limited Visibility in Mainfreight's Near-Term Trading -- Market Talk

Dow Jones05-30

0116 GMT - There is limited visibility of Mainfreight's near-term performance, says Forsyth Barr. Mainfreight's management has described trading in FY 2025 so far as satisfactory, but analyst Andy Bowley notes that's an adjective often used by the company to cover a range of contexts and growth rates. "The trading backdrop is mixed, with cause for optimism in Air & Ocean (supported by improving volumes and the recent rapid escalation of sea freight spot rates) and Warehousing (footprint expansion)," says Forsyth Barr. However, transport volumes appear to be the biggest challenge facing the company after falling 6% in FY 2024, the bank says. (david.winning@wsj.com; @dwinningWSJ)
