MT Newswires Live05-30

China Eastern Airlines (SHA:600015, HKG:0670) said its project of developing China's first-ever homegrown commercial aircraft, the C919, will now move to commercial operation phase from production phase, Yicai Global reported Wednesday.

The development comes as the airline added its sixth C919 aircraft to its fleet on Tuesday, exactly a year after its maiden commercial flight from Shanghai to Beijing on May 28, 2023, the report said.

China Eastern is cooperating with C919 maker Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China or COMAC to boost the airliner's configuration according to commercial experience, Yicai said, citing China Eastern Chairman Wang Zhiqing.
