These investments are critical to be able to [sustain] the energy system today but also to be able to build the energy system of the future.\" The CEO warned the U.S. risks missing out on the opportunity if it fails to show that it can be a reliable and dependable energy supplier, regardless of administration or who controls Congress. Sawan's biggest criticism of the Biden administration focused on the decision to pause new LNG export permits, which \"continues to undermine confidence in U.S. LNG at a time when U.S. allies around the world want dependable and reliable supplies so that they can actually anchor that as part of their overall energy system.\" The CEO also highlighted the potential of LNG to offset the use of coal in power generation and some industrial processes in Asia and Europe.
