Sintx Technologies (SINT) said Thursday that the Department of the Air Force's AFWERX arm selected the company's Technology Assessment and Transfer unit for a $75,000 contract focused on 3D printing technology.

The three-month, phase I small-business innovation research contract will focus on the "enhanced sinterability" of complex-shaped 3D printed silicon nitride and help address challenges in propulsion and guidance technology for high-temperature DAF systems, the company said.

Sintx said it will try to advance into a phase II contract worth up to $1.3 million over 21 months, if successful.

The company's shares were down 3.7% in recent trading.
