Market Chatter: China's Three Biggest Carriers Deepen Partnership With Middle Eastern Peers

Airline routes between China and the Middle East will increase as three of China's largest carriers — China Eastern Airlines (HKG:0670, SHA:600115), Air China (HKG:0753, SHA:601111) and China Southern Airlines (HKG:1055, SHA:600029) —deepened their cooperation with their Middle eastern peers, Yicai Global reported June 7.

China Eastern Airlines signed a deal with Etihad Airways to open more routes between China and the United Arab Emirates as well as a non-binding agreement with Riyadh Air on code sharing, frequent flier programs, ground services, in-flight catering, aircraft maintenance, and digital operations, according to the report.

Air China also signed a similar deal with Riyadh Air and upgraded its code-sharing arrangement with Turkish Airlines, Yicai Global wrote.

China Southern Airlines also deepened its partnership with Qatar Airways by signing a non-binding agreement, according to the report.
