Mercury NZ Names Stew Hamilton as New CEO, Vince Hawksworth to Retire Aug. 31

Energy utility Mercury NZ said Chief Executive Vince Hawksworth will retire on Aug. 31. He will be succeeded by Stew Hamilton, currently executive general manager generation.

Hawksworth has served as CEO since March 2020, the company said.

In his current role, Hamilton has been responsible for managing, operating and maintaining the company's hydro, geothermal and wind assets, Mercury said. His responsibilities also include health, safety and wellbeing performance at the enterprise level.

Prior to joining Mercury, Hamilton was CEO and general manager at New Zealand Aluminium Smelters.

Hawksworth will assist with the transition, the company said.
