Singapore Shares Edge Higher; Focus on Fed, U.S. CPI -- Market Talk

0111 GMT - Singapore's FTSE Straits Times Index edges 0.2% higher at 3327.86, tracking U.S. equities broadly. The main theme is consolidation ahead of the U.S. CPI data and FOMC meeting, Commerzbank Research analysts write in a note. Focus will be on Fed Chair Powell's press conference, as markets don't expect any rate cuts this time, they add. Among advancers, Seatrium gains 1.15%, and Mapletree Pan Asia Commercial Trust and Singapore Telecommunications are each up 0.8%. Among decliners, Mapletree Industrial Trust falls 0.5%, Wilmar International loses 0.65% and CapitaLand Integrated Commercial Trust is 0.5% lower. (kimberley.kao@wsj.com)
