Heineken's 2Q Sales Volume Beat Peers in Europe -- Market Talk

1108 GMT - Heineken outperformed in Europe during the second quarter, registering the biggest improvement in underlying market share trends, Citi analysts say in a note based on the latest European beer data report by Nielsen. The Dutch brewer's European volumes were up 5.2% in the last four weeks, ahead of 4.6% reported for the previous period, and price mix was slightly up at 0.2%, they say. European sales are estimated to represent around 35% of Heineken's sales, they add. Heineken brand volumes rose 12.6% in the same period, the analysts say. This compares with Carlsberg and AB InBev volumes, down 2.3% and 3.0%, respectively. In the U.K., Diageo's Guinness business continues to see a strong momentum, up 14.0% from the previous 4.5%, they add. Heineken shares are up 0.2%. (michael.susin@wsj.com)
