Sector Update: Health Care Stocks Edge Higher in Afternoon Trading

Health care stocks were edging up Tuesday afternoon, with the NYSE Health Care Index and the Health Care Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLV) each rising about 0.1%.

The iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) was down 0.5%.

In corporate news, Silk Road Medical (SILK) shares surged almost 24% after it struck a deal for Boston Scientific (BSX) to acquire the medical device company for $27.50 per share, representing an equity value of about $1.26 billion.

DermTech (DMTK) sank 51% after it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection as part of its ongoing review of strategic options.

Sintx Technologies (SINT) said its board has started a process to explore potential strategic options for the firm. Its shares fell 2%.
