Air China's (HKG:0753, SHA:601111) passenger capacity surged 13.9% year over year to 29.1 billion available seat kilometers (ASK) in May, according to a Monday filing with the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
International passenger capacity soared 120% to 7.98 billion ASK, while domestic passenger capacity fell 4.8% to 20.3 billion ASK, the filing said.
Passenger count jumped 19.7% to 12.7 million during the month, with domestic passenger load growing 10.7% to 11 million and international passenger load surging 205.7% to more than 1.3 million.
Cargo capacity grew 26.7% year on year to 1.03 billion available freight tonne-kilometers. International cargo capacity increased 111.5% to 468.7 million available freight tonne-kilometers, while domestic cargo capacity declined 5.9% to 536.7 million available freight tonne-kilometers, the filing said.
Cargo carried increased 45.2% to 125,194.7 tonnes. Domestic cargo carried rose 24.1% to 81,924 tonnes while international cargo soared 123.8% to 39,645.6 tonnes.
Air China's shares rose about 1% in Hong Kong and slid 1% in Shanghai Tuesday morning.
