Planet Labs Expands New South Wales Contract to Add Urban Planning, Biodiversity Management

Planet Labs (PL) said Thursday it recently expanded its contract with the New South Wales government in Australia through its partner NGIS to support crisis response, urban planning and biodiversity management.

Financial terms of the contract weren't disclosed.

Under the expanded contract, Planet Labs said the New South Wales government uses the company's SkySat data to assess vegetation change, identify areas for restoration, create koala corridor maps for protection, and issue sustainable housing permits.

The New South Wales government has been using Planet Labs data for flood disaster response, water resource management and wildfire response, the company said.
