POLITICS

Italy will take a "responsible" approach to its budget policy, Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti said, after the European Commission recommended disciplinary budget steps against Rome along with six other countries over their high fiscal gaps.

Treasury announces sale of BTP Short and BTPei bonds, with relative amounts to be auctioned on June 25.

COMPANIES

TELECOM ITALIA (TIM)

Telecom Italia (TIM) is working to finalise the sale of its fixed line network to KKR on July 1, the telecoms group CEO told during investors meeting at Mediobanca headquarters in Milan, according to a source briefed on the matter. Pietro Labriola also said the company could consider M&A for its domestic operations, according to the same source. In particular, it could consider a merger of its enterprise business with a peer in the IT sector, while the consumer business could explore a deal with a rival.

MEDIA

Advertising spending in Italy rose 6.7% year-on-year in April, Nielsen said on Wednesday.
