Consumer stocks were down pre-bell Monday, with the Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLP) down 0.3% and the Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLY) 0.2% lower recently.
Walt Disney (DIS) was up more than 1% after saying its Pixar Animation Studios film "Inside Out 2" generated $155 million at US box offices over the weekend, describing it as the biggest opening of 2024 thus far and the second-biggest animated opening after Pixar's 2018 "Incredibles 2."
Polestar (PSNY) was up more than 4% after saying it is expanding retail operations amid a new sales model being implemented across Europe, and that it expects to enter seven new markets in 2025.
Coca-Cola (KO) and Starbucks (SBUX) have submitted applications for re-registration of trademarks in Russia, multiple news outlets reported, citing documents on the Russian intellectual property agency Rospatent's website. Coca-Cola was 0.2% lower and Starbucks was down 0.1% pre-bell.
