Telekom Malaysia Stands to Benefit From Malaysia's Data-Center Boom -- Market Talk

Dow Jones06-21

0212 GMT - Telekom Malaysia looks set to benefit from Malaysia's data-center boom, and its robust free cash flow generation provides sufficient room for higher dividends or new projects in future, Maybank IB analyst Tan Chi Wei says in a note. The telco giant and Singtel's recent joint venture to develop data centers in Johor highlights connectivity as a key selling point, leveraging Singtel unit Nxera's significant presence in Singapore, he says. Maybank raises Telekom's target price to MYR7.50 from MYR6.80 to mirror the optimistic outlook regarding data connectivity due to increasing data centers. The bank maintains a buy rating on the stock, which is last at MYR6.68. (yingxian.wong@wsj.com)
