LendingTree's (TREE) QuoteWizard unit had consumer data compromised and sold by hackers following unauthorized access to a cloud database hosted by Snowflake (SNOW), Bloomberg reported Thursday, citing a person familiar with the matter.
The data is listed on several cybercriminal forums and is being sold to the highest bidders, the person reportedly said.
The hack did not impact LendingTree's operations and the company is still looking into the size and scope of the data theft, the person reportedly added.
"We continue to work closely with our customers as they harden their security measures to reduce cyber threats to their businesses, and we are developing a plan to require our customers to implement advanced security controls, like multi-factor authentication or network policies," Snowflake Chief Information Security Officer Brad Jones told MT Newswires in an email.
Neither LendingTree nor QuoteWizard immediately responded to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
