Sector Update: Consumer Stocks Mixed in Late Afternoon Trading

Consumer stocks were mixed late Monday afternoon, with the Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLP) increasing 1% and the Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLY) down 0.1%.

In corporate news, Sony's (SONY) Sony Music, Warner Music's (WMG) Warner Records and Universal Music are seeking damages from artificial intelligence companies Suno and Udio over mass copyright infringement, Reuters reported Monday. Sony shares added 0.8% and Warner Music rose 1%.

Paramount (PARA) is raising the price of its Paramount+ streaming service across different tiers, a company spokesperson confirmed to MT Newswires Monday. Its shares popped 1.7%.

Car dealerships including AutoNation (AN), Lithia Motors (LAD) and Group 1 Automotive (GPI) warned of business disruptions on Monday after a cyberattack that occurred last week at third-party information systems vendor CDK Global. AutoNation shares fell 0.4%, Lithia rose 1% and Group 1 added 1.3%.

Vista Outdoor (VSTO) was rising 2.5% after it said Monday it received an updated bid of $2 billion from Czechoslovak Group for its ammunition and gun business after another party with a higher offer pulled out of the race last week.
