European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were higher Monday, rising 0.55% to 1,427.31 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.
From continental Europe, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical company Genfit (GNFT) and semiconductor company Sequans Communications (SQNS), which climbed 11% and 5.5%, respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company DBV Technologies (DBVT) and travel company trivago (TRVG), which increased 3.6% and 3.5%, respectively.
The decliners from continental Europe were led by medical device maker EDAP TMS (EDAP) and software firm SAP (SAP), which dropped 4.1% and 1.3%, respectively. They were followed by telecommunications company VEON (VEON) and pharmaceutical company Ascendis Pharma (ASND), which were down 0.9% and 0.7%, respectively.
From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical companies Akari Therapeutics (AKTX) and Adaptimmune Therapeutics (ADAP), which climbed 11% and 5.6%, respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company NuCana (NCNA) and financial services company Lloyds Banking Group (LYG), which were up 4.7% and 2%, respectively.
The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by cruise line operator Carnival (CUK) and biopharmaceutical company Biodexa Pharmaceuticals (BDRX), which were down 5.1% and 4%, respectively. They were followed by construction materials supplier CRH (CRH) and hospitality company InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), which fell 2.6% and 2.5%, respectively.
