Beer Companies to Close 2Q in Good Shape -- Market Talk

Dow Jones07-06

1502 ET - The backdrop for most beer stocks is positive heading into the second quarter earnings season, with investor bearishness in the spirit space at peak levels, Citi analysts say in a research note. The earnings season will be a clearing event for investors to look forward and revisit what Citi analysts believe are compelling medium-term growth and re-rating stories. Although beer remains Citi's preferred sub-sector play on a three-month view, the analysts now see greater upside in Spirits on a 1-year view. Citi's top near-term picks are Davide Campari-Milano andAB InBev. (sabela.ojea@wsj.com; @sabelaojeaguix)
