Microsoft-(MSFT) backed OpenAI is in talks with chip designers including Broadcom (AVGO) over the development of a new artificial intelligence chip, Reuters reported Thursday, citing a news brief from The Information.

OpenAI is reportedly working to address the shortage of graphic processing units used in developing AI models. The company is tapping former Google (GOOG) employees for the development of an AI server chip, Reuters cited The Information as saying.

OpenAI, Microsoft, and Broadcom did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comments.
