Australian Government Warns of Malicious Websites, Unofficial Code Claiming CrowdStrike Outage Recovery Options

MT Newswires Live07-22

Australia's government warned the information technology teams of companies and government agencies who use the cybersecurity platform CrowdStrike of malicious websites and unofficial code claiming to help recovery from the recent widespread outages, according to a Sunday press release from the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD).

The warning comes after an update led to recent outages impacting Microsoft's (HKG:4338) Windows operating program. CrowdStrike said the outage was not due to a cybersecurity incident or malicious activity.

The ASD encourages all consumers to source technical information and updates from official CrowdStrike sources only. Businesses affected by the so-called Blue Screen of Death, sudden shutdowns, and other usability issues should follow CrowdStrike's guidance, it added.
