Malaysia's Healthcare Service Providers Have Solid Earnings Outlook -- Market Talk

Dow Jones07-22

0309 GMT - Malaysia's healthcare service providers' earnings outlook remains positive, driven by rising medical tourism and demand for non-communicable disease treatments alongside a growing aging population, MIDF Research says. Globally, hospitals will see increased demand due to population growth, rising chronic diseases, and advancements in healthcare technologies, it says. Malaysia's healthcare services market is projected to grow, with revenue estimated at MYR39.5 billion in 2024 and up to MYR52.7 billion by 2029, it reckons. The postpandemic expansion and modernization of hospitals, as well as increasing demand for world-class facilities and services at competitive prices support this optimistic outlook, it adds. MIDF maintains a positive call on Malaysia's healthcare sector, with KPJ Healthcare and IHH Healthcare as its top picks. (yingxian.wong@wsj.com)
