Exchange-Traded Funds, US Equities Higher After Midday Trading

Broad Market Indicators

Broad-market exchange-traded fund IWM and IVV were higher. Actively traded Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) rose 0.9%.

US equity indexes rose, led higher by technology and communication services, after midday on Monday.

Energy

iShares US Energy ETF (IYE) and Energy Select Sector SPDR (XLE) were roughly 0.5% lower each.

Technology

Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) rose 1.4%; iShares US Technology ETF (IYW) and iShares Expanded Tech Sector ETF (IGM) were higher.

SPDR S&P Semiconductor (XSD) gained 2.2% and iShares Semiconductor (SOXX) was up 2.5%.

Financial

Financial Select Sector SPDR (XLF) added 0.3%. Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares (FAS) rose 0.5% and its bearish counterpart Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ) dropped 0.6%.

Commodities

Crude was down 0.4%; United States Oil Fund (USO) lost 0.5%. Natural gas rose 5.4% and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) was up 5.5%.

Gold was down 0.4% based on Comex, and SPDR Gold Shares (GLD) was 0.4% lower. Silver lost about 0.2% and iShares Silver Trust (SLV) retreated 0.6%.

Consumer

Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR (XLP) eased 0.3%; Vanguard Consumer Staples ETF (VDC) and iShares Dow Jones US Consumer Goods (IYK) were declining.

Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR (XLY) climbed 0.8%; retail fund VanEck Vectors Retail ETF (RTH) and SPDR S&P Retail (XRT) were mixed with the former trading higher.

Health Care

Health Care Select Sector SPDR (XLV) edged up 0.1%; iShares US Healthcare (IYH) and Vanguard Health Care ETF (VHT) were higher. iShares NASDAQ Biotechnology ETF (IBB) added 0.5%.

Industrial

Select Sector SPDR-Industrial (XLI) was up 0.3%. iShares U.S. Industrials (IYJ) and Vanguard Industrials (VIS) were higher.
