More Hong Kong Businesses Forecast Worse Business Performance in Q3 than Better

MT Newswires Live07-22

11% of survey respondents from various business niches in Hong Kong expect their business situation to improve quarter-over-quarter in Q3, while 12% forecast a worse situation, a Monday filing by the Census and Statistics Department said.

In particular, more respondents in the construction and retail sectors expect adverse conditions during the third quarter than in Q2.

While respondents broadly forecast little to no change in output, employment, and selling prices, some sectors expect rising or declining results.

The manufacturing, accommodation, and food services sectors see a rise in production volume during the quarter, with retail sector respondents expecting a decline. Manufacturing niche respondents forecast a rise in employment during the period while construction sector respondents expect their tender prices to go down.
