Singapore Shares Edge Lower, Weighed by Banks -- Market Talk

0950 GMT - Singapore's FTSE Straits Times Index closed 0.1% lower at 3426.47, weighed by banks. The markets are likely awaiting next week's FOMC meeting and the keenly watched U.S. core PCE price index--the Fed's preferred inflation gauge--for June, which is due later in the day. UOB fell 0.9%, while DBS Group and OCBC lost 0.8% each. Among advancers, Yangzijiang Shipbuilding rose 8.3%, Seatrium gained 2.0% and DFI Retail Group was 1.7% higher. (kimberley.kao@wsj.com)
