Exchange-Traded Funds, US Equities Climb After Midday Trading

Broad Market Indicators

Broad-market exchange-traded fund IWM and IVV were higher. Actively traded Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) rose 1.6%.

US equity indexes soared after midday on Friday, lifted by a moderation in inflation and strong quarterly earnings.

Energy

iShares US Energy ETF (IYE) rose 0.6% and Energy Select Sector SPDR (XLE) was 0.4% higher.

Technology

Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) added 1.9%; iShares US Technology ETF (IYW) and iShares Expanded Tech Sector ETF (IGM) were higher.

SPDR S&P Semiconductor (XSD) rose 2.3% and iShares Semiconductor (SOXX) added 2.7%.

Financial

Financial Select Sector SPDR (XLF) climbed 1.6%. Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares (FAS) was up 4.6% and its bearish counterpart Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ) fell 4.5%.

Commodities

Crude was down 1.3%; United States Oil Fund (USO) dipped 1.2%. Natural gas dropped 0.7% and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) was down 1.2%.

Gold was up 1.4% based on Comex, and SPDR Gold Shares (GLD) was 1.2% higher. Silver gained 0.2% and iShares Silver Trust (SLV) added 0.4%.

Consumer

Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR (XLP) rose 1.1%; Vanguard Consumer Staples ETF (VDC) and iShares Dow Jones US Consumer Goods (IYK) were rising.

Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR (XLY) added 1.4%; retail fund VanEck Vectors Retail ETF (RTH) and SPDR S&P Retail (XRT) were higher.

Health Care

Health Care Select Sector SPDR (XLV) edged up 0.9%; iShares US Healthcare (IYH) and Vanguard Health Care ETF (VHT) were higher. iShares NASDAQ Biotechnology ETF (IBB) gained 0.8%.

Industrial

Select Sector SPDR-Industrial (XLI) was up 2.3%. Vanguard Industrials (VIS) and iShares U.S. Industrials (IYJ) were higher.
