European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were moving marginally higher late Thursday morning, rising 0.15% to 1,411.92 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.
From continental Europe, the gainers were led by consumer goods company Unilever (UL) and biopharmaceutical company argenx (ARGX), which rose 6.3% and 3.4% respectively. They were followed by telecommunications company Nokia (NOK) and pharmaceutical company Sanofi (SNY), which increased 4.1% and 3.7% respectively.
The decliners from continental Europe were led by biopharmaceutical company DBV Technologies (DBVT) and biotech firm Evaxion Biotech (EVAX), which fell 4.7% and 3.3% respectively. They were followed by financial services company Banco Santander (SAN) and pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk (NVO), which were down 3.1% and 2.6% respectively.
From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by tobacco company British American Tobacco (BTI) and biopharmaceutical company Adaptimmune Therapeutics (ADAP), which were up 4.7% and 3.7% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company Verona Pharma (VRNA) and telecommunications operator Vodafone Group (VOD), which rose 3.1% and 2.3% respectively.
The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by cruise line operator Carnival (CUK) and pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca (AZN), which dropped 3.9% and 3% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical companies NuCana (NCNA) and Biodexa Pharmaceuticals (BDRX), which were off 2.9% and 2.4% respectively.
