Chilean Regulator Rejects Tianqi Lithium's Appeal Regarding Decision on Salar de Atacama Tie-Up

MT Newswires Live07-30

Chilean financial regulator CMF rejected Tianqi Lithium's (HKG:9696, SHE:002466) appeal to reconsider its decision regarding the partnership of the Chinese lithium miner's subsidiary in boosting control over Salar de Atacama, according to the company's filing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

CMF ruled that the partnership between Sociedad Química y Minera de Chile, or SQM, and Corporación Nacional del Cobre de Chile, or Codelco, should continue without holding an extraordinary shareholders' meeting, the Monday filing noted.

The tie-up will allow SQM to operate and extract lithium in Salar de Atacama from 2025 to 2060.
