Heineken's Results Underwhelm, Guidance Upgrade Doesn't Surprise -- Market Talk

Dow Jones07-29

0650 GMT - Heineken's 1H performance was underwhelming given that almost every line of its profit and loss table missed market expectations, RBC analysts James Edwardes Jones and Emma Letheren say in a note. The brewer missed volume growth expectations to a larger extent than price, justifying RBC's concern around Heineken's persistent price increases, they say. By region, Africa, Middle East and Eastern Europe outperformed despite volatility in Africa, and Heineken reported share gains in the majority of European markets despite missing revenue growth expectations, they say. While Heineken upgraded its guidance to 4%-8% organic profit growth, this didn't come as a surprise given recent comments from the CEO, the analysts say. (michael.susin@wsj.com)
