Bunge (BG) and Moolec Science (MLEC) are collaborating to genetically edit safflower oilseeds for suitability for biofuels, Bloomberg reported Wednesday, citing a joint statement from the companies.
The partnership in Argentina aims to increase the productivity and adaptability of safflowers, making them more effective for biofuels and other markets, the media outlet reported.
The initiative could expand to include soybeans, as part of research for sustainable biofuel feedstocks, Bloomberg reported, citing Bunge's head of business development in Argentina, Jorge Bassi.
Neither Bunge nor Moolec immediately responded to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
