The last dividend was quite easily covered by Yuexiu Transport Infrastructure's earnings.  This indicates that quite a large proportion of earnings is being invested back into the business.    The next year is set to see EPS grow by 34.0%.   If the dividend continues on this path, the payout ratio could be 53% by next year, which we think can be pretty sustainable going forward.     SEHK:1052 Historic Dividend August 9th 2024 Dividend Volatility  While the company has been paying a dividend for a long time, it has cut the dividend at least once in the last 10 years.      The dividend has gone from an annual total of CN¥0.206 in 2014 to the most recent total annual payment of CN¥0.273.      This works out to be a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of approximately 2.9% a year over that time.     The dividend has seen some fluctuations in the past, so even though the dividend was raised this year, we should remember that it has been cut in the past.     The Dividend Has Limited Growth Potential  With a relatively unstable dividend, it's even more important to see if earnings per share is growing.      Yuexiu Transport Infrastructure's EPS has fallen by approximately 12% per year during the past five years.  Dividend payments are likely to come under some pressure unless EPS can pull out of the nosedive it is in.   However, the next year is actually looking up, with earnings set to rise. We would just wait until it becomes a pattern before getting too excited.     Our Thoughts On Yuexiu Transport Infrastructure's Dividend  Overall, it's not great to see that the dividend has been cut, but this might be explained by the payments being a bit high previously.
