Starbucks (SBUX) has poached Chipotle Mexican Grill (CMG) Chief Executive Brian Niccol, who will assume the top role at the coffee giant next month.

Shares of Chipotle slid 7% as intraday trading volume climbed to over 85.8 million compared with the stock's daily average of about 17.8 million.

Syros Pharmaceuticals (SYRS) shares slumped after the company said late Monday that it plans to stop enrolling new patients in its phase 2 trial of a treatment candidate for acute myeloid leukemia.

Shares sank 62% as intraday trading volume catapulted to more than 4.4 million versus a daily average of about 117,000.

Ascent Solar Technologies (ASTI) said Tuesday it will complete a 1-for-100 reverse stock split before the market opens on Thursday.

The company expects the reverse split to increase its per-share and bid price of its common stock above Nasdaq's required $1 minimum bid price for continued listing on the exchange.

Shares slumped 29% as intraday trading volume stood at over 13.3 million from a daily average of roughly 28.2 million.
