True North Copper Starts Ore Extraction at Queensland Project; Shares Up 8%

True North Copper (ASX:TNC) has initiated ore block mining from the 180 bench at its Wallace North deposit, accelerating activities at its Cloncurry copper project in Queensland, according to a Tuesday filing with the Australian Securities Exchange.

The mine has removed 52,000 bank cubic meters of overburden to date, with oxide ore to be hauled to the Cloncurry operations hub for crushing and placement onto heap leach pads, followed by irrigation, the filing said.

The company has a binding offtake agreement with Glencore for all of the copper concentrate produced at the project, according to the filing.

True North Copper shares rose 8% in afternoon trading.
